Travel. Cooking. People. Places. These are my things. What moves me. What makes me tick. I love how food connects people, brings families together and tells a story.
What inspired me?
This blog has been a long time in the works. I got the travel bug when I was 19, mesmerized by each new place and each new taste. From Melbourne to Bali to London, I couldn’t get enough. It started out as a love of trying new things, but then I went to the spice market in Zanzibar and it all changed. My senses were ignited and coincidentally, everything costs just a few cents 🙂
I bought ground ginger, dried ghost peppers, garam masala, turmeric, all different kinds of curry powder, cardamom, cayenne, cinnamon, cumin, saffron….Ok you get the picture.
Fast forward a few years, and I’m cooking every chance I get. I’m reading cookbooks cover to cover in my spare time. I’m finding myself buying beef bones for broth, grilling whole octopus, slicing persimmons & fennel with a mandoline, using harrissa in my humus and negotiating the price of a black truffle. I knew I loved to cook, but the depth of it didn’t hit me until a recent trip to San Francisco
I was traveling for work, and sick of being my own date for dinner so I signed up for a cooking class. All of a sudden I was the happiest girl in the world. It was then that it finally struck a chord. It’s simple, cooking is my passion. It’s what excites me when I wake up. I dream about whole foods and farmers markets, literally. If I’m lucky enough to realize this passion so young, you bet I’m going to explore every nook and cranny of that passion.
So here goes nothing.
